Thanksgiving 2011

Our Thanksgiving week started off with a celebration when Nathaniel made his Confirmation at Church. The next Sacraments to be celebrated are either Marriage or Ordination. We are so proud of him! He looked very handsome too... he's growing up! I lost one of my favorite earrings that evening (it's not there in the photo, that's how I knew I lost it at Church) and this morning I checked the Lost and Found but didn't find it. Wouldn't you know that as I was walking out, past the Christmas tree, there on the skirt beneath the tree was my earring! After 5 Masses and all that traffic, there it was. I believe St. Anthony of Padua (the Patron Saint of lost things) placed it right there so I happened to see it! That made my day!

On Tuesday we lost Chloe. I can't write any more about it except that I cried all day long. I'll miss her.

On Wednesday we hit the road, along with most of America, and traveled to see my parents in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a whirlwind visit, as it always is, but this time I was able to see a couple of my cousins and my aunt and uncle. My cousin John and his wife had their first child on Monday... a gorgeous little girl who I was able to hold already! My cousin Becky and her husband also had their beautiful second daughter four weeks ago and I was able to hold her for awhile too! I forgot how much I miss having babies, especially girls. I know I shouldn't be partial but I just love girls. I suppose because I am one and I grew up with only sisters. I adore Nathaniel so don't get me wrong! It was a good trip and we had good weather on the trip back yesterday. We listened to the Ohio State/Michigan game which was fun. Though Ohio State lost, it was a good game. That and lots and lots of Christmas music!

Today was special because it's the First Sunday of Advent. The Church was decorated, the new Mass started today, and everyone is excited for Christmas. Craig and I went and picked out a real tree this year and a huge wreath for the front door. We got the outside all decorated and next comes all the indoor decorating! It seems like December is coming quickly this year but we are all anxious for the holidays and all the family traditions it brings!

Congratulations to Nathaniel! Oh and I love your hair - it looks fab. My mum was always losing jewellery - usually the diamond out of her engagement ring. She noticed it was missing on the way to church once, but there is was nestled in her handbag.......

I think I'll go get the tree next weekend when my friends are here from LOndon = I didn't have one last year as my mum was sick and I didn't feel like a tree (I just did some decorations) - so this year, with the perfect window for a tree I am definitely having one!

Love the family photo!

Beth, so sorry to hear about Chloe. But, I am glad you got to spend so much quality time in Cincinnati - lots to be thankful for.

The best is that you found your earring! Amazing!

Congratulations to Nathaniel! I'm sure you're very proud of him. And I'm pleased you found your earring.

I haven't even begun to think about Christmas. I did buy a wreath to use for my Advent candles, but haven't pulled those out yet because we weren't home on Sunday.

I'm so so sorry about Chloe--I know you'll tell us more when you can.
