If you ever get a chance to visit Baltimore, there is so much to see there! We've been to the National Aquarium and the Science Museum before, so this time we headed to the American Visionary Art Museum! This is a very unique museum with art done by artists who are not professionally trained. We loved the kinetic sculpture works and we were lucky enough to see a really fun special exhibit called "What Makes Us Smile?".
Can you find us below? ;)
I loved this welcome mat... it is made of toothbrush handles and bristles! It said "SMILE"!
This was at the front desk at the entrance. We had fun looking at all the old lunch boxes. I found my yellow Peanuts one!
Afterwards we ate lunch overlooking the harbor at the Rusty Scupper...
This is a view of the harbor from the restaurant window. See those condos? The top floor of two buildings (joined) is the condo of Tom Clancy (worth $12 million)! In the distance is the Domino Sugar plant where you can see big claws of sugar being transferred.
For fun we took a speed boat ride. The Seadog is the way to see the harbor and hear about the history and current happenings of the area. I miss being on the water and boating!
We got soaking wet at the end!!! But it was worth it.
Below is the Constellation. We drove home last evening, very exhausted but so glad we did the two days down there. I found out today that if we'd stayed another day, I could have seen my Cincinnati Reds play the Baltimore Orioles! Our hotel was just across the street from the Orioles stadium!
