I don't know if any of you caught last night's episode of Jamie Oliver's "Food Revolution" but that's a bus full of 57 tons of sugar-- the equivalent to the amount of sugar the kids in the LA School District eat and drink in a week!! It was horrific. He has a petition to sign to get flavored/sugared milks out of our schools and let the kids drink good old plain milk. These sugary milks have as much sugar as a can of soda pop, which by the way, is not allowed into schools anymore! The LA School Board didn't want to let him in the schools... most of them look like they are all sickly, so no wonder. What I wish Jamie would have said was that there are now tests that show when kids ingest sugar before a test or exam, their scores drop. If schools were really concerned with achievement, you'd think they'd do everything possible to help themselves look better and the kids to do better.
Go here to sign Jamie's petition and find out more!

Don't get me started on LAUSD! Haha! Schools and hospitals have terrible food.
Oh i missed the show. I actually wanted to see it. The District believes that the cameras and crews (being there for a long period of time) will disrupt and impact instructional school day. So I wanted to see what the show really entails. I guess I have to tune in next week.
That's lots of sugar! Oh! My!
Nice article, thanks for the information.
I haven't seen any of Jamie Oliver's episodes.
So much sugar...
