A very disturbing result of our efforts in helping Iraq has been the extinction of heirloom seeds from their country due to our agricultural corporations introducing GMO seeds to Iraq's farming. Luckily, some people had the foresight to save the few seeds they had and Baker Creek has acquired a few species.
I am outraged whenever I hear what we as a society are doing to our agriculture. I can only do a small part on my own: growing my own garden, buying locally and organic, and what I wrote above, but also sharing the information I've found with you and teaching my children to be much more responsible. I hope their generation will THINK before it's all too late.
