Alec & Ian in Haiti
I felt I needed to post about this because I couldn't believe what I was reading when my friend
Terri posted
this on her blog!
UNICEF is not allowing the orpan children in Haiti to go the orphanages and hospitals to take care of them but keeping them in tent camps! This is outrageous to keep children from proper care just for their own self-interest. Terri's sister
Stephanie has been in adoption proceedings for awhile now for her boys from Haiti and has written
posts about what is happening. It makes my heart really sad and I hope that someone can do something about this tragedy. Putting the news out is one way to promote a change!
** At the end of
this article there are two emails for people who work at UNICEF. I just emailed them about my concern for this issue.
**UPDATE: Christopher de Bono responded via email this morning: "Thanks for your email. What you are hearing is absolute nonsense." He should tell that to the people waiting for their adoptive children and who know what's going on.

It breaks my heart thinking of all those children being herded up like cattle in tent cities. Not only are they missing out on proper care, they are also missing out on a warm smile and i kind heart that would be there for them to get them through this.Someone who chooses to be there, someone to make them feel safe.
My heart is sad too.
Thanks, Beth, for posting this. While my nephews are with their forever family safe and sound, my heart breaks for the children left behind. Interesting reply you got...I agree...tell that to the people who are there expereincing this firsthand!
It is just tragic what is happening in Haiti when so many loving families would jump at the chance to take care of them.
