amazing

Have you ever come across something that it seems everyone else knows about but you... and you definitely feel that you should have known? Well, that's what happened when I was catching up on Melissa and Lynne's blog Sugar City Journal. Lynne posted about Lisbeth Zwerger's illustrations in the Nutcracker book! I couldn't believe how beautiful her pictures were. It's like we existed in parallel universes and suddenly our paths crossed and she became my favorite illustrator just like that!

On to the gallery news: We are so very close to signing the lease! Craig and I ran numbers, up and down and around... figuring out how many classes would pay for the expenses but still be a fair price. It looks like we'll open in May and start art camps for the summer months. Then I will offer fall, winter and spring terms during the school year. I'm picking furniture and laying out the space. I'm hoping to fill the front shelves with handmade art and crafts by all of my friends! And the walls with prints, drawings and paintings. So much to do!! It is a huge undertaking. But I've never been so excited about anything my whole life. You know when you just fit into something... it seems natural and you can picture yourself there, doing it... it gets you out of bed in the morning and makes your heart beat a little faster. I am so close to deciding on a name too! I know you guys all love Red Yarn. But that is perfect for my BLOG. A yarn is a story.  And it's more than just yarn. It's a place where ideas are made and artists begin. It's a place where careers could be started or furthered. Again, where wondering about things leads to the creation of art. I thought of a word last night. Actually I saw it on something totally unrelated but it just stuck out to me. So I'm twirling it around in my head and imagining it on a sign or on paper. I'll tell you soon. It's like presenting a new picture... I'm not sure how people will respond, but I have to love it enough first to put it out there. Oh, I want to draw and paint so badly!!! All this thinking and all the art I've seen lately. I think there might be another picture bursting out soon! ;)
