what's happening

Every time I say to myself "I will be positive and focus on the good in life", I come across something like this article.  I heard about this... a sea of floating plastic, growing every day. You know those nice cruise ships? They just tossed the trash into the ocean. Plastic doesn't sink people.  Stop buying those plastic bottled waters and plastic soda bottles! Stop using plastic grocery bags. I know it's impossible to stop using all plastic but really, do we NEED to use so much? And are you recycling it? I am guilty of putting a lot of that in the trash but now I know better.  Sometimes things that are invented to make life easier, just end up ruining it.  One positive though: they are starting to make "plastic" out of corn and this is supposed to disintegrate eventually. But for the rest of plastic that's ever been made, well, it will be around FOREVER. Think about that.

my hubby reckons i am trying to save the world single-handed i have so many 'bags for life'! and am fanatical about recycling - tins, paper, bottles, clothes -you name it!!
i think the shops should stop all their massive over packaging - but, hey, don't get me started on that one!!

hugs

just the other day, i received a plastic bag that was made of corn, i was very excited!!! i use canvas bags for all of my grocery shopping, but as you said, you can't plan ahead all the time. But if everyone just changed just a little, we'd be a lot better off :)

Everything we do has an effect on the here and after doesn't it? You have to think about how you can reduce your households use of these toxic conveniences. What do they say/ Think globally act locally! Jen

Yes !!! You are right ! I try to recycle every single things, but I keep feeling guilty ! and I say to myself, do I need really to buy this or that ? I'm about to make my own yogurts. I don't buy plastic bottles anymore (hé hé ! We did stop drinking soda). I did stop buying soap in plastic bottles too, ham or cheese in plastic wrapping, a lots of cleaning product except the dishwashing...

Bisous :)
