Some teaching going on over here this evening! Caroline is doing a project for her class and she decided she wanted to make a doll of the character in her book. She came up with the sketch of how she should look, we found fabric, and now she's putting it together! I'm going to start calling her "Hilary Lang"! It is fun to watch her learn how to attach appliques and embroider. And figure out how pieces will go together for this soft sculpture!
Today Craig and I volunteered at the Junior Achievement Biztown for Caroline's Fifth Grade. It was a pretend town and all the students had careers which they had interviewed for previously. They had checkbooks and had to learn how to run a business. It was a lot of fun to see them learning about "real life"! Caroline was CEO of Planet Earth, a retail shop. She said she wanted her own shop after that! Etsy, here she comes!! All the kids did a great job today and I will volunteer again next year when Nathaniel's turn comes!

I can't wait to see the finished product! So cool! I have heard great things about Biztown, too...I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Please tell Caroline that I think she has mad skills in felt face creating! :) Beautiful!
My daughter MamaMia started her own beading and jewelry business when she was 12! Sometimes our kids are just naturals.
I love the glasses on her doll! That BizTown idea sounds like a great thing - we always wonder how to teach kids entrepreneurial and life skills and this seems a great way!
Here, the JA calls is Exchange City. I got to go with Pumpkin. It was fabulous. The kids are so fortunate to get to go. It sounds like Caroline walked away with lots of insight.
You get the gold star for assisting with the book report character. It looks like Caroline is pretty talented!
Sounds like a lot of fun, especially the doll. Be Sweet!
