Sorry that I posted yesterday's creative thing today instead. I got home later than normal from painting and really, I didn't like this one a whole lot. The composition is weak, and I didn't even get to finish painting most of it. I do like how the bottle looks like glass, so I am chalking this one up to a definate learning experience. I tried to put in the background first and and the lights and shadows. There was just too many things to paint for only 2 1/2 hours! I really didn't want to post it but I figured you needed to see my failures as well as my successes.

Thank you for all of your great comments yesterday!! I even got a few more in my email box too. I think that I tend to hang around a lot of the same kinds of women-- intelligent, kind and well-spoken. I loved reading what you guys had to say about it. Craig said he was happy that people spoke so well of him too (I'm not sure if he really liked what I said though! He always told me he married me because I was intelligent and stood up for what I thought.) I think anything can be spoken about if it's done with politeness. I kept thinking about Esther in the Bible yesterday (I think that's right). She was beautiful and was able to persuade the king to do the right thing because she knew how to use her femininity. I know-- the women's libbers would hate that statement, but it's so true. Look at Hillary Clinton right now. She turns off a lot of men because of her brashness. We can be respected for our ideas and be lovely at the same time. And by the way, all of you who wrote are beautiful women!!!! I will give men more credit than they usually get because I think they see it better than we do! So go hug your guy today and let them know how much you appreciate their mind too! (and their cute behinds... okay... I can't help it!)

If that painting is a failure, I can't wait to see the successed! I think it's lovely.

Glad to hear you got some nice responses yesterday--it was a good question. :)

I think you did so well to do all that in 2 1/2 hours!!! It's a great painting and I love the glass bottle!

I looked at your painting and my first thought was, NICE glass! Then I read your post. Yep, you captured the glass.

By the way, you won my birdhouse giveaway! Can you please send me your address and I'll send you a birdhouse. I am about to post a photo of the prize.

You are too hard on yourself! The painting is good. The bottle captures all the reflection glass would. I am sure the biggest challenge is operating in that 2.5 hour window. You probably add undue stress trying to capture it all in that short period of time.

Like the other comments say - can't wait to see the "good" stuff!!!

i could have NEVER done this...neither in 2-1/2 hours or 2 years. So....I appreciate you posting it. If this is a failure...it is a really good one!

Your still life is beautiful.
I'm envious of your talent.
I looked at your other blog too - it was charming.
i liked the title Momlove - the most important thing in the world to be.
My son will be 30 tomorrow and I'm feeling old.
All best wishes

As others have said, I think the painting is beautiful! I have ZERO talent in that area, so I really admire those who can actually draw/paint something to resemble the really thing...keep up the great work!

Well, I loved the painting...the glass bottle is blue!

If a man marries a woman because she is intelligent and speaks her mind, he can't complain when she does! And a wise woman chooses HOW she speaks her mind--as you said, like Esther (although you can't discount the supernatural element of God's hand in it).
