Gustav Klimt's portrait of Helen Klimt
I know the creativity has been a bit lacking but we're having a super busy weekend!! Lots of fun, lots of birthdays... you'll hear more about it tomorrow as we're leaving in an hour to see a great show in Hershey!

Let's talk briefly about hair! I just got my hair cut on Tuesday and I was thinking about something an old boyfriend's sister once said, "You should spend more money on a good haircut than a dress because you wear your hair every day!". It is true that a good hair day always feels better and to not have to worry about bad hair is great. Finding someone to cut/style your hair the right way is something else though! It took me several years of living where we do now to find someone I really like. I also read somewhere that if a hairstylist says your hair is the problem, change stylists because they should be able to cut your hair to suit it's texture and thickness so it will look good. I've had my hair done by cheap places all the way up to a very well known stylist in NYC who does hair for tv personalities there. And basically my favorite style that they all seem to do is a bob because my hair is straight and heavy.

I grew up with two blonde sisters and we all have different textured hair. Whenever I see three little blonde sisters, it reminds me of all of us. The numerous different styles we tried (let's just forget the perms girls... I looked horrible!) are unfortunately forever captured in old photos and yearbooks! I would braid the other two's hair if they asked. Anne says my hair isn't "big enough" and they are both more glamourous than I am. But to this day, we tend to resemble our younger selves: me in the bob, Jane with long hair and Anne with curls pulled up very pretty! The funny thing is that I've always loved brunette hair! My mom is a brunette... Dad is the blonde. Mom always seemed more sophisticated with her dark hair and dramatic. Now my own daughter is a brunette with big brown eyes!

So, do you love your own hair and what is your favorite color?

I love my hair when it's cut well. I have lived in Camarillo for 8 months and I'm still looking for a good stylist!

I love my blonde hair and I admit to helping it along a little in the highlights department.

My hair is thin and fine so it needs a layered cut.

But I've always loved that I'm a blonde! Like you, I got the color from my dad. My mom had black hair and olive skin, but she had blue eyes, as do I.

I would like to be like "B", but without product and a perm I am more like "J"- with fine hair. I still like to call my hair auburn even though it really isn't red like it used to be- more of a brown with red highlights.

I agree with your old boyfriends comments- a good haircut is good investment- and finding a good hair dresser who will work with you and enjoy it is like finding gold. I've been going to the same gal for almost 14 years- thank you Jolanna!

Ugh - I hate having my hair cut .... it always used to end in tears. And if I have it coloured at the hairdressers too ..... over two hours in the chair?? So boring! (Now I take my knitting - which is ironic given that I get my hair cut in a place which is full of wrinkleys - and I'M the one knitting!)

I love your picture of the the three blondies .... my sis is more glam than me too :(

Have to agree that it is well worth whatever money you have to spend to get a great haircut. I've got very thick curly hair and it is quite hard to find someone who really does know how to cut curly hair. They always say they know how to cut curly hair but rarely do they.

White underneath, but brown for the world to see...My daughter is my stylist. I was hopping from stylist to stylist for some time. My daughter one day said, "Mom, you are never going to be happy. You want someone to turn the chair around and have your hair look like it did when you were 23!" In the one profound moment, I got it. She was right. My hair is a little thinner than it was then, the texture is different with age (49 now.) Today, like you I'm wearing a bob and lovin it. And, I love my stylist too, my darling daughter.

My favorite hair color is... NOT White. Which is what I'm constantly hiding. Oh well. The cut is ok, I just got it bobbed round my shoulders. My hubby dies and cuts my hair. He's a hair stylist who tuned into a cop halfway through life. So if I don't like the cut... he don't like his dinned for a while! Just kidding, it grows quickly. I have to be careful because it's so curly I can end up looking like a que-tip very easily.
I love that illustration. It's adoreable.

The sisters picture is so cute. I still dream of finding the perfect hairdresser, every so often I find one who is good but then they usually go off pregnant or something. I have rather too much hair which means highlights (which I really need thanks to a lot of grey) takes hours and hours. I love my curls but hate my frizz, the slightest bit of moisture in the air makes it frizz and in Wales, there is a great deal of moisture in the air!

I laughed when I saw your blog about hair after commenting on my own hair. I think I am just going to let it grow a bit and add some long bangs. We'll see what she says tomorrow. I do like the brunette color - just not the gray that keeps appearing!!!

Oh this is so fun--- I have two sisters, too, and we were once all blonde. But NOW, I'm the only blonde left, and it's not ENTIRELY natural, so I guess we should all be brunies.

ANYWAY, I just got bangs and LOVE them. They're perfect for ANYONE, and I highly recommend them for crazy-eyebrowed people! :)
