Here is that "wip" I started to tell you about before. I used
Meg's pattern and in the process, I learned how to do piping around the edge and to use my "zipper foot" on my sewing machine!! I am pretty much self-taught with the sewing, so there was a couple seam-ripping incidents. I always feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I complete little things like this though and I can't wait to start another project! I am beginning to think that actually having someone teach me something would be a lot less painful than deciphering new terms and figuring out how to use new materials. The mental challenge of reading patterns is comparable to other people's love of mountain climbing, I suppose! I figure if someone out there did it before me, then certainly I can get to the end! Now to tackle the huge box of fabric I got from Purl... and start my quilt mountain!!!

oh my gosh! I love that pillow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so smart. Great work Bethany!
The pillow looks fabulous! I am impressed you made your own piping. I think I'd like to make one too, but there are so many projects on the list...the big guy took today off. We have book shelves to put together and mirrors to hang! Have a good one!
That is adorable! You clever girl!
xo,
Kim
I love it. I used to have one a long time ago but I have since lost it. I am no where near talented enough to make mine. I had to buy it. You did a great job!
Love,
Julie
I've never tried making my own piping. Wow!
What you said about learning to do things yourself reminded me of a study done years ago that discovered that children whose moms let them discover the solution to a problem learned 'better' than those whose moms constantly prompted them. So, maybe you're learning better. :)
Wow - what a great idea! I want to make one right now. Something else to go on my 'things to make for Christmas' list! I really should stop reading blogs - my list is getting too long xxx
Don't stop reading mine!!! :))
I'd miss you too much!
Bethany,

I confess that I'd prefer working on something easier to knit today, but I have a project coming, just waiting for the yarn, so I want to finish this sweater for the guild asap. The new sweater? A maternity sweater for my older daughter! I'm going to be a grandma!
No this seems like a truly useful project. Love it!
Yay! I love it! You did a really great job! (Have you posted it to the pattern Flickr group yet?)
