Fall goodies and a wip!

Last weekend we bought a bunch of mums and some gourds to decorate the house...

I love the colors of cabbage plants, which replaced some summer flowers...

Little pumpkins leading up to the door....

Then a little spider came to make his home from Felicia at Fluffy Flowers, bringing along a little card to send out to someone special....

Crossing the ocean at the same time, I received a little cupcake from Laura at Cupcakes for Clara. It now goes with me everywhere on my keychain!...

Just in time for October, some Halloween-y stuff arrived from Karla at Karla's cottage! Now I have to jump in and make some fun things...

And last but not least, here's what we've been busy with around this house (besides teaching, which went well today!)... My wip-- which I'm trying to set a world's record as the longest time it takes one person to sew a reading pillow!!! I'm loving making it, but I just have so much else that keeps me from doing more than one step every few days! It is a pattern I got from Meg at Montessori by Hand.

Here is the really cute Japanese fabric I got for it:

Meanwhile, Caroline has been busy learning to needle felt and she's super fast! She made the little penguin in one day!! And no band-aids yet! (note: Lesley)

Nathaniel has a school project to begin, but nothing to show yet... except his new trumpet which he will start learning to play in another week at school. We are going to have our own tiny orchestra here!!!

Wow! That was a lot of stuff. I love that your kids are playing instruments and learning different crafting skills. My mom was never a big crafter. She painted ceramics (beautifully, I might add) and crocheted. Guess what I know how to do - you got it. Ceramics and crocheting. But that's it...

Love,
Julie

Thanks for sharing all the things that are going on in your house. We just sold our trumpet as we switched from band to choir. Enjoy the early sounds! I remember starting summer trumpet lessions in the bottom room of GMS. Steve Walters and I had to blow air out holding a piece of paper up to the wall. I can't remember if that was to get us to breathe or to hold our mouths correctly for the mouthpiece. Why do I remember that? Any chance Nathaniel will move on to the French Horn?

Well that sweet little spider looks like he was made to hang out in a pumpkin patch! I'm so glad you like him. And your gourds are beautiful and perfect to decorate with. Fall is so wonderful!

Ooh... Love the fall decor. I really don't do much on the outside. But you're inspiring me to.
