We're Back!

We made it back home fine... and as usual, the trip was too short! I didn't get to see everyone I wanted but I did get to spend time with my parents, step-parents and my Grandma who is 93 and still looks beautiful! I did get my Skyline Chili- twice - and LaRosa's pizza. Here's what else we did:

Here's Mom in her kitchen. She lives in Western Hills which is very interesting in it's architecture. Lots of houses built by German immigrants who were creative craftsmen. I wish I had taken more photos of the homes...

My friend Caroline's daughter Julianna was in an art show at the old Covedale Theater last Saturday, so we went to that. She had beautiful marbelized papers made into stationary and handmade books that looked like an adult made them! She is just as talented as her parents!
Her friends were also selling their crafts and one thirteen year old made beautiful purses, one of which my daughter bought:

Julianna's stationary:

Her handmade book which is a three-fold design with different types of papers inside:

At the art show I also met a young woman who recently graduated from my alma mater-- The University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture, & Planning in Art Education (just like me) and she actually has family in Chambersburg and Lancaster!! Small world. She did all kinds of great crafts (like crocheting with recycled yarn from Abercrombie and little purses sewn from vegetable bags she got from the restaurant where she works!) and Nathaniel came home with one of her aragarumi monkeys:

Here is her business card and she wrote "Luvkt" which is her etsy name. I will be watching for her things!I was very inspired to come home and do more of my own work! I was able to almost complete my second sock during the long car ride. I just have to finish the toe on double-pointed needles. I got caught up in sewing on Girl Scout badges for Caroline when I got home.

The kids start school next week, so things are getting pretty busy here...back to real life!

I love those black kitchen cabinets. If my house wasn't all white with pink roses, it would be black with pink roses1!
