Dear Martha,

Was it something we said? Did you decide that kids are not what holds your interest? Why, oh why did you stop printing the best magazine for kids that I have ever seen?! I frequently pull out my copies and lose myself in the fabulous colors and designs...the ingenius crafts and the delicious-sounding recipes. Every time I open it, I realize I missed something else-- this time it was the car trip suggestions. Do I have time to sew that car bag or make index cards of the numerous games you printed before our trip this week?? Probably not, as I am not the "Super Mom" that you aspire us to be! But with your magazine, I'm sure I could learn...over time...lots and lots of time.

So this is an urgent request to reconsider "Martha Stewart kids". I've had evil thoughts of starting my own magazine and stealing your editors, but that is an impractical desire.
Please, please, please publish "kids" again!

Sincerely,

Bethany Hissong

[On the off chance that she reads this-- I'm the one who emails you every month, wondering the above thoughts-- and I've forgiven your lapse into criminal activity, though republishing would make up for that in my mind!]

I get Everyday Food and I think there was an ad for the KIDS magazine in the latest issue. Perhaps, it was for a book or something else. I will have to go look...

The ad in the magazine is Good Things for Kids. It must be a book of some sort on the newsstands. Sorry to get your excited!

Sometimes sadly where publications like that are concerned despite the fact that they may be very good and have wonderful ideas they are not big sellers and often run at a loss. For a while if the publishing group has other successful publications it can be carried. However in the end a cold calculating accountant says it has to go and so it disappears without fanfare

I've seen the Good Things for Kids--it's in a smaller format (like Everyday Food's) than KIDS, and for some reason it didn't grab me. I don't know if I was in the wrong mood for it, or if it seemed too expensive, or if it just lacked that KIDS vibe. I loved KIDS, too, and my kids really enjoyed it a lot as well. Hope Martha reads your letter and gets back to you!
